ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC ON HAIHAI ST. BETWEEN IWALANI ST. AND LAULĀ RD.

HILO, Dec. 19, 2016 – Haihai St. between Iwalani St. and Laulā Rd. will be closed to thru traffic beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017.  Only local and golf course traffic will be allowed access. 

The purpose of the closure is to install a new box culvert and waterline tie-ins for the Haihai Fire station project, weather and construction conditions permitting.  This closure is necessary to complete the installation in a timely manner and for the safety of the traveling public. 

Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the work area. Special off-duty police officers will be posted in the area to facilitate traffic movement.

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.

LAUPĀHOEHOE POINT ROAD CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE WORK ON MONDAY, DEC. 12TH  

HĀMĀKUA, December 9, 2016 - The County Highway Maintenance Division announces the closure of Laupāhoehoe Point Road between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016, weather conditions permitting.

This closure is necessary to complete road maintenance work, including the removal of hazardous rocks from the embankment in a timely manner; and for the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Only local traffic will be allowed access. 

Special off-duty police officers will be posted in the work area to facilitate traffic moment.

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.

CONVERSION TO L.E.D. STREETLIGHTS CONTINUES IN HILO ON OCTOBER 12TH AND 13TH 

The Department of Public Works, Traffic division will be conducting streetlight work on Wednesday, October 12th and Thursday, October 13th in the Waiākea House lots area between East Lanikāula St. and Pi‘ilani St.  Work will be on Mililani St., Hīnano St. and Laukapu St.  Work for both days is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., weather conditions permitting.

This work is part of the County public streetlight conversion program.  The program converts streetlights from current low-pressure sodium lamps, or LPS, to light-emitting diode lamps or LED.

Special off-duty police officers will facilitate traffic movement during intermittent lane closures.  Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

CONVERSION TO L.E.D. STREETLIGHTS CONTINUES IN WAIMEA AND KONA ON OCTOBER 12TH AND 13TH 

The Department of Public Works, Traffic division will be conducting streetlight work on Wednesday, October 12th in Waimea along the Māmalahoa Hwy.19 from Earl’s to Lakeland heading in the Hilo direction.  Streetlight work will continue on Thursday, October 13th in Kona along the Māmalahoa Hwy. 180 (Hōlualoa Rd.) beginning at Palani Junction to the intersection of the Māmalahoa Hwy.180 (Hōlualoa Rd.) and Māmalahoa Hwy.11 by Teshima’s Restaurant.   Work for both days is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., weather conditions permitting.

The Department of Public Works, Traffic division will be conducting streetlight work on Wednesday, September 28th along Hualālai Rd. from the intersection of Kuakini Hwy. and Hualālai Rd. and then along Ali’i Dr. from the intersection of Hualālai Rd. and Ali’i Dr. heading in the southern direction.  Streetlight work will continue on Thursday, September 29th on Palani Rd. from the intersection of Hina Lani St. and Palani Rd., to the Palani Rd. and Queen Ka‘ahumanu Hwy. intersection.  Work for both days is scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., weather conditions permitting.
