Komohana St. Reconstruction Project Update - Nov. 28, 2016

The Hawai‘i County Department of Public Works and its contractor Yamada and Sons, Inc. is continuing reconstruction work on the Komohana Street roadway and is currently proceeding from Punahele Street towards Waiānuenue Avenue.

The Contractor’s working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  According to the Contractor, they will be completing the roadway reconstruction work (excavation, sub base, paving) by the end of the year.  The subcontract work (traffic signals, striping, signage, guardrail adjustments) will follow thereafter with total project completion by early 2017.  The Contractor can be contacted for any additional questions regarding their schedule and timelines.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to drive with caution as heavy vehicles and machinery will be in the work zone.  Alternate lane closures will be in effect and at a minimum, one lane of travel in each direction will be provided at all times through the construction area for the duration of the project.

Hawai‘i County Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding.

If there are any questions or concerns, please call Yamada and Sons, Inc. at (808) 933-8434
