Anticipate Traffic Delays During Upcoming Roadwork in Waimea

Goodfellow Brothers Inc., contracted by the County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works, will conduct night work on a waterline and daytime shoulder paving along Māmalahoa Highway over the course of the next several weeks. In some instances, the night work and daytime paving will occur concurrently.

Night time Waterline Work August 14 – September 13

The night time work on the water line will take place Monday through Friday, today, Wednesday, August 14, 2019, through Friday, September, 13, 2019, from 7:30 p.m. to 5: 00 a.m., weather permitting. No work will be conducted Thursday evening, August 15 through Friday morning, August 16, in observance of the Statehood holiday on Friday.

Daytime Shoulder Paving August 19 – August 30

From Monday, August 19, 2019, through Friday, August 23, 2019, Goodfellow Brothers Inc., will pave the shoulders of Māmalahoa Highway between Mealani Road and Kipu’upu’u Street, weather permitting. That work will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

It is anticipated that once that portion of paving is complete, work will continue Monday, August 26, 2019 through Friday, August 30, 2019 paving the intersections between Kalake Street and Kipu’upu’u Street where side roads connect with Māmalahoa Highway.

While roadwork is conducted, traffic will be contra-flowed through the work area and personnel will be on scene for traffic control. Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the work zone.

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding. For more information, questions or concerns, please call Brandon Adams of Goodfellow Brothers Inc. at (808) 887-6511.
